Architectural study of the sacral object Brno - Live /Líšeň/
Malečková, Kateřina ; Žalmanová, Petra (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
The topic of this diploma thesis is design processing of a new sacral building in Brno-Líšeň district. It is a plot in the middle of a panel building between the health centre building and the building of the Salesian Youth Center, so-called Salesko. The Salesian community, which will use the building the most, has been waiting for the realization of this building for many years. The key theme is the creation of spaces enabling people to meet for worship, celebrations and social events. The design is processed by two interconnected operations - the building of the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit and the building of clergy house. The basic composition consists of three cubic masses - the entrance, the main liturgical space and the clergy house. The bell tower is the height dominant feature which indicates the sacral function of the building. The project consists a set of buildings with two above-ground floors and a basement in the entrance part of the church. This project also mentions the solution of open spaces around the plot and their conversion into quality public areas, marginally. The sacral space is to become a place that welcomes and takes in its visitors and gives them the feeling of safety. Inside this building, people will find peace, support and undestarstanding, so they may leave with the feeling of being a better person.

The subject of this diploma thesis is the design of a study of a sacral object - the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit in Brno, Líšeň. The church building is complemented by a spiritual center. The construction program is limited to the following: the church building, with its facilities - parking spaces, rehearsal room, flower preparation room, sale of small items with a rest area; main nave of the church, choir, space for children with parents, chapel; background of the sacristy - confessional, parish office, sacristy, depositary. Another part of the building program are the premises of the spiritual center: reception, foundation offices with archives, conference room, Sunday school classroom, multifunctional hall, club room, 3 apartments with a separate chapel. Everything is complemented by technical and hygienic facilities. The design is extended by relaxation areas in the vicinity, which expand the portfolio of civic amenities in the area. The design includes both sacral and profane functions. The spiritual center is therefore of a multifunctional nature and offers stimuli both for the Salesian community and for the local inhabitants of the adjacent settlement. Their meeting center is Kostelní náměstí, which meets in the axes of the two main directions of arrival from Horníkova Street and from the Salesian Youth Center. The foreground with seating and sale of small items serves the general public, which can continue to use the multifunctional hall for concerts, lectures, exhibitions. The premises of the clubhouse, classroom and the Parish Atrium will be used for educational and other activities for children, their parents and grandparents and other social groups. The spiritual center also enables the official activities of the foundation with the possibility of using the surrounding facilities. The center also offers a private part for living within the parish with three 2 room units, reserved parking and storage space. The whole complex will provide
New scene of the Beseda House in Vyškov - neoplasm in a historical setting
Žvak, Ondřej ; Plášil, Jiří (referee) ; Hrabec, Josef (advisor)
The main target was to create a new hall for 600 people. I tried to make a multifunctional hall which can be used as a theathre or a place for exhibition, balls etc. The apearence of the building is influenced by lack of space. The building was designed in minimalistic style. Facade reacts to historical setting. The building is composed from three mutually displaced blocks. Interier is also in minimalistic style. I used light colours and limited number of materials.
Návrh nábytkového solitéru s použitím dřeva a kamene
Borbélyová, Jozefína
The thesis deals with the design of table furniture for a public interior in the form of a solitaire. It highlights the importance of using sustainable materials, interprets the trend of returning to nature, emphasizing the use of given materials such as solid wood and natural stone. The work includes the design of a coffee table complemented by a collection of bar and dining tables as a possible transformation and use of design. The visual application of the theme is aimed more at the demanding customers asking for high quality solitaires for their hotel or café interiors. Therefore, the thesis deals with the analysis of individual materials, typology and ergonomics of table furniture, evaluation of the historical context and selected solutions from the present in the theoretical part. Finally, it summarizes the safety requirements and the legislation in force for the product in question. The practical part presents the all-encompassing design process, including variants, the final design itself, its justification, and conveys the entire production process of the prototype.
Methods of provenance determination of marbles
Dontová, Kateřina ; Přikryl, Richard (advisor) ; Kuchařová, Aneta (referee)
Determination of provenance of marble from sculptures or architecture, which make part of our cultural heritage, make some of the principal goals of material investigation of artefact and/or archaeological findings. Light-coloured marbles used in antiquity are amongst the most studied types of natural stone. Various methods and approaches, employed for marble provenance, rank to the most developer. Moreover, antique marbles take advantage of having the largest datasets for provenance determination. This bachelor thesis focuses on the review of the main scientific methods which have been used for marble provenance studies during past 130 years. Mineralogical-petrographic description together with thin-section microscopy makes the basis of such studies. Traditional qualitative description has evolved into more precise quantitative study with the help of computer-based image analysis methods allowing for obtaining sound quantitative data (grains size, grain shape etc.). After-2WW period is characterised by adoption of various analytical methods, which employ different chemical characteristics of marbles. Along with trace elements studies (e.g. by INAA, LA-IC-MS), most of the recently used analytical methods focus on the C and O stable isotopes. Each of the methods has also some limitations, therefore...

Determination of geological provenance by cathodoluminescence spectroscopy of apatites and carbonates
Pánik, Róbert ; Matějka, Dobroslav (advisor) ; Ježek, Josef (referee) ; Skála, Roman (referee)
This work presents new method for determination of geological provenance based on the statistical analysis of cathodoluminescence spectra of marbles and carbonate rocks from various localities in the Bohemian Massif. Analysis is based on the combination of data from seven different measures of spectral similarity and provides results that are more robust than those obtained by approach based only on a single measure of similarity. These results may be further improved by employing meta-analysis that evaluates behaviour of spectra during the individual steps of analysis. Analysis was performed on the original cathodoluminescence spectra, as well as on the residual spectra in which relative variability was amplified by the subtraction of Gaussian trend present in all spectra of carbonates. By combining results from analysis and meta-analysis of both original and residual spectra it was possible to almost unambiguously determine provenance of samples from all studied localities. Agglomerative hierarchical clustering was employed as a supplementary method for classification of spectra. Out of 72 different methods for clustering, one was selected for both original and residual data based on the number of correctly classified spectra. Second part of this work presents analysis of cathodoluminescence...
Ravennate Marble Trade in the Late Antiquity: Material from the San Severo Complex
Tůmová, Helena ; Ondřejová, Iva (advisor) ; Bouzek, Jan (referee) ; Cantini, Federico (referee)
This thesis aims to study the commercial mechanism of Ravenna in the Late Antiquity from the point of view of the amount, type and provenance of the imported stone artefacts (fragments of architectural decoration, revetments slabs, opus sectile, sarcophagi), based on the study of archaeological material from the site of the basilica and the monastery of San Severo in Classe (Ravenna). Ravenna represented an important administrative and cultural center in the 5th and 6th century, connecting western and eastern artistic influences and focusing herself on trade and production. Determination of the stone artefacts from the San Severo locality was principally based on the archaeometric methods and on the combination of archaeologic and geologic approach as well. Specific archaeometric methods (macroscopic, geochemical and mineralogical-petrographic analyses) together with a quantitative evaluation were applied. Many scientific works, dedicated till this time to the art history of late antique Ravenna and dealing also the argument of ravennate "marbles" presumed the prevailing provenance from Proconnesos and usual commercial relations between Ravenna and Constantinople as well. Constantinople played a role of a mediator of oriental localities and Ravenna. The hypothesis concerning the provenance of the...
